Today is one of those days where I feel inadequate about myself, about the decisions I make and the work I do.
There’s a fine line between ranting your emotions to express yourself and making yourself feel worse.
Day 1
Arrived at Knoxville, Tennessee around noon. Rented a car and on our way to Gatlinburg. Very excited, the weather is great, very sunny.
Ripley’s Aquarium - Believe it or not, this aquarium was actually very interesting. Started out with the coral fish feeding and then explored all over the area. They have an impressive array of jellyfishes and shark display. We also checked out the Stingray feeding. The presenter and the diver was very entertaining.
Misc stores - One of the most memorable stores was the Pepper Palace. It had over 100 types of hot sauce and was able to taste a variety of them.
Cherokee Grill - Decent place. Oysters were big and delicious. Bruschetta was crispy. Steak was only alright but the sides: Mac and Cheese and Nave Potatoes were delightful.
Day 2
Started our day with breakfast nearby, Log Cabin Pancake House. Food was absolutely delicious and portions are generous. Momentarily wrapped up our stay at Gatlinburg, Tennessee and ventured out to Pigeon Forge, a city nearby.
Wonder Works
#1 activity to do according to tripadvisor. Definitely worth it. It was quite fun and I absolutely LOVE the entrance and the space obstacle course. Some things were definitely a bit cheesy and were meant for kids but this was a true delight. Unfortunately the magic show was closed since it was a Sunday.
Sonics
Experienced my first Sonic burger down south. Pretty cool to have someone deliver your food to your car to eat in. Their Java Chiller was delicious and thick but a bit too much for me.
Rockin raceway arcade
Fun and short. A way to kill time. We tried the elevated Go-Karts and the speed Go-Karts. Arcade games are as any usual place. Sorta sad we didn’t notice the Nacar Speedway, otherwise we would’ve went to check it out.
Tangers Outlet
The best way to kill time is always to go to a mall. I personally think I went a bit overboard and spent a bit much at Banana Republic. However, sales tax is cheaper here! and there are much more petite/small sizes available than in NYC.
Dixie Stampede - Dinner Show
I’ve only been to a few dinner shows but this is definitely by far one of my favorite. Not only is the entertainment fun to watch, the food was great! (Caveat: you will be using your hands). Seeing different types of horses, bison, and tricks made me want to try out horseback riding. Staff was courteous and I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge.
Day 4
Our departing day. We ate again at the Log Cabin Pancake House and drove to Knoxville, Tennessee. There’s really not much to do here since it’s mostly historical sites. Our departing flight is at 5:00PM so we can’t really do much. We checked out the World’s Fair Park SunSphere nearby and read some history of Knoxville. One of the more memorable places was the French Market. They have delicious Hazelnut Lattes and their interior is beautifully decorated like the cafes of Paris.
Currently at the airport with not much to do except to type this. So I bid you adieu for now.
Until next time.
PS. TERRIBLE plane ride from TN to Detroit.
PSS. At least I’m back home and safe in NYC.
I guess I have the words “Naive; Trick me; Take advantage of me” written all over my face.
-oh dear…is it that time again?
+Yes, you have repeated the mistake.
-the mistake?!
+Yes, the mistake.
+You did not learn from the upteenth time to not repeat the mistake
-this mistake is like a drug, I just can’t help it.
+But you need to, otherwise you’ll fall into the same trap time and time again
-oh what to do?
+Get up on your feet, stand up straight, hold you head high and walk it off. Shake it off.
-what if the feeling of that mistake never shakes loose?
+You will get over it in good time; just be wary to not make the same mistake again.
-::sighs::
Dear all,
2011 has been one of the best and most memorable year since graduating college. Finally settling into the life of NYC, I found my niche of my friends and am eternally grateful for those who have been there for me. During good times and bad times, it is truly wonderful to know there are people who will go out of the way to help or hang out with you. I have witness people who have gone through major lengths to help someone and never truly felt the true meaning of it all until now. Although sounding quite enigmatic at the moment, I can’t even count on my fingers how many of these little events have truly impacted me.
Although experiencing all the good times, there will always be bad times. The lessons I have learned will hopefully stick with me to prevent me from making the same mistakes again.
Early Friday morning, I took the 5 train at Chambers Street - Brooklyn Bridge to meet a friend for lunch on 75th street. Having no seats, I stood on the train facing the window. As I looked up and viewed the reflection of the glass, I noticed a quite handsome fellow sitting across from where I was standing. As Union Sq approached, seats opened up and I sat down. I proceeded to read my book, “The Essential Drucker” and decided to glance up to see if Mr. Handsome was truly handsome. I reckon he was a bit taken aback as I looked up, he turned his head away the moment our eyes accidentally locked for a brief second. Trying to catch a 6 train for the local stops, I saw one waiting at Grand Central. I immediately got up to catch the train and left Mr. Handsome to my dismay.
59th Street approached and as I looked at the entering passengers, I saw Mr. Handsome enter the same train and car as I. How peculiar was that? Mr. Handsome unfortunately got off at 68th Street - Hunter College. I prematurely assumed he was a student/professor of some sort.
According to my friend’s directions (via text), it said to take the 6 train to 77th street, walk down to 75th street and walk towards central park. So hence, I followed the directions and as I was approaching 75th street and Lexington, lo and behold! Mr. Handsome was at the corner. This was truly more bizarre than the chance of being on the same train the second time. Both of us bursted out laughing since I’m pretty sure this type of chance has never happened to us.
Unfortunately, although it was quite refreshing to have a small chat on my way to meeting a friend, only names were exchanged.
